For a major change to be successfully implemented, the people and organizations implementing it must feel ready and willing to act. In other words, members of an organization seeking to adopt a learning healthcare system (LHS) approach must believe that it is important to adopt an LHS approach, and be convinced that their organization has the capacity to do so. The research team led by Sara Ahmed developed and tested a questionnaire designed to help healthcare organizations assess their current level of readiness to implement an SSA approach.<\/p>\n\n\n

Assess your readiness to implement an LHS approach<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

By completing this questionnaire, you should gain a better understanding of how ready your organization currently is to adopt an LHS approach, and what the logical next steps are for your organization based on your answers. The self-assessment questionnaire will enable you to:<\/p>\n\n\n

  • Determine whether members of your organization value the LHS approach and are ready to embrace this change;<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Identify what your organization has done and what it is ready to do in terms of LHS implementation.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n\n\n


    This can be completed by one or more members of your organization, or in consultation with your organization’s stakeholders (e.g. health and social care managers, professional staff, patients and carers).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    In this questionnaire, you will be asked to reflect on how much your organizational members value this change, what tasks must be completed, what resources you have available to you, and what situational factors (e.g., time, political environment) may influence LHS implementation. Higher scores on each item may represent a higher level of readiness in this area, while lower scores may represent areas where improvements may be made to achieve increased readiness.
