The Cultural Safety Roundtable and the report were co-funded by: Indigenous health expertise of the Qu\u00e9bec SSA Support Unit, McGill Department of Family Medicine, the Office of Joyce\u2019s Principle, and Tahatikonhsonto\u0301ntie\u2019 Quebec Network for Indigenous Health Research (Qc-NEIHR).<\/p>\n\n\n<\/div>\n\n                    \n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Objective<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The objective of the roundtable was to <strong>define and identify the best ways to conduct culturally safe indigenous health research, placing the voices and knowledge of indigenous people and their allies at the heart of the process.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">A unique exercise<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The report on Cultural Safety in Indigenous Health Research Context: a report of recommendations drawn from an unprecedented round-table discussion stands out for the nature of its content and the process used to produce it. A partnership approach was used to organize the round table and produce the report:<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>45 people took part in the round table, 24 of whom came from 10 of the 11 nations present on Quebec territory.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Several methods of exchange were used, including the talking circle.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Elders acted as facilitators.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Indigenous people reviewed the report throughout its production.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What does the report on cultural Safety in Indigenous Health Research Context contain?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The report is very complete. It includes both textual and illustrated content, and covers the following topics in particular:<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Context and status of past and present research<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Principles, ways of being, ways of doing and ways of knowing to create culturally safe research environments<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Tailor-made recommendations for political and organizational decision-makers, researchers and educators<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Guidelines for cultural safety training in research settings<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Joyce&#8217;s Principle and
