But many don\u2019t know where to begin, or how people with lived experience could be involved.&#13;\n&#13;\n<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">That\u2019s why the BC SUPPORT Unit co-developed the first English-language road map with patient partners in 2019.&#13;\n<\/p>\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-pullquote is-style-default\"><blockquote><p>\u201cWe knew that researchers wanted to involve people with lived experience on their research teams, but didn\u2019t know what to do first\u201d <\/p><cite>Stirling Bryan, responsable scientifique en chef de Health Research BC<\/cite><\/blockquote><\/figure>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Now, the road map has been adapted for French-language speakers through a partnership between the <strong>BC SUPPORT Unit<\/strong> and <strong>Unit\u00e9 de soutien SSA Qu\u00e9bec<\/strong>. The teams translated and validated the road map to support patient engagement in health research in all parts of Canada.<\/p>\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cPeople with lived experience can offer vital insight into challenging health questions,\u201d said Sonia, a patient partner working with Unit\u00e9 de soutien SSA Qu\u00e9bec. \u201cI am honoured to be part of the team who helped contextualize the tool for the French-language context.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n<div style=\"height:21px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In Qu\u00e9bec there\u2019s an exponentially growing interest in, and practice of, patient engagement. The road map is one way to increase involvement of people with lived experience in health research. The French-language road map will help research teams, including patients, understand the many ways to support people with lived experience as experts in health research.<\/p>\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cPatient partners and research teams in Qu\u00e9bec and in francophone ecosystems of Canada will benefit from the road map immensely,\u201d said Myriam Fournier-Tombs, Coordinator of the Axe Partenariat at the Unit\u00e9 de soutien SSA Qu\u00e9bec and Partnership Network Lead at the Center of Excellence on Partnership with Patients and the Public. \u201cWe\u2019re grateful to our patient partners, research leads and to the BC SUPPORT Unit for supporting this vital work.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:23px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Funding for the French-language translation of the road map was provided by the BC SUPPORT Unit and Unit\u00e9 de soutien SSA Qu\u00e9bec.
